Danny Thompson, 75, of Millfield, Ohio, holds a Greek one Drachma coin. In 1963, Thompson decided to abandon his studies at Ohio University amidst his senior year to visit France, Greece, Turkey, Pakistan and Egypt with less than two hundred dollars in his pocket. He's happiest, he said, on the open road without destination. "Sometimes I wonder if it's not better to have to struggle," he said.
