NEW ZEALAND: Still Shootin’

A week after breaking my collarbone much of the pain has gone away and with it, the awkwardness of a sling… remains. But I can’t avoid making honest attempts to keep shooting whether that means painfully wielding my body and 70-200 by the lip of the hot shoe or resorting to on-site, makeshift monopods. On our second to last day in this beautiful country, my dad and I headed down to the gannet colony near Muriwai Beach during sunset for a shootout. It was a beautiful distraction from the heartache of leaving and the dread that comes with 14 hour flights with freezing temperatures to follow. Thanks for traveling with me. I’ll spare you any Tolkien puns.

A wonderful sunset muddied only by a few clouds and a thick air of gannet guano.

Here’s looking at you, gannet.

This shot hurt and took some patience. Worth it!
